TC go second after a difficult win against Maziya

Ibrahim Waheed Hassan’s first half goal proved enough for TC Sports Club to down Maziya, and climbed to second place in the point table of Ooredoo Dhivehi Premier League.

The result saw, TC Sports Club moved to second place level on 13 points with Maziya as the latter are ahead on superior goal difference.

New Radiant could go top of the table if they managed to get maximum points from their game against Kudahuvadhoo on Sunday.

Maziya came into this game without the injured Asadhulla Abdulla and Hussain Niyaz as well as the suspended Assad Ali while Ali Nafiu was a notable absentee for TC Sports Club.

TC Sports Club got off to a flying start when Ibrahim Waheed Hassan opened the scoring inside two minutes on the clock after taking full advantage from a poor clearance by Maziya players.

After conceding an early goal, Maziya played majority of the first half in the opposition team’s half but were unable to create clear cut chances for the rest of the opening half and they were dealt a further blow when Mohamed Irufan was forced to withdraw from play due to injury in the last minutes of the first half.

Maziya created the first chance after the break with two minutes into the second half but Mohamed Umair’s shot went over the bar.

Just around hour mark, Ibrahim Mahudhee had a decent chance to double TC Sports Club’s lead but his free-kick was saved by Maziya keeper Mahmoud Al Yoossef.

Then on 70 minutes Khalil threatened to double their lead again but his shot from inside the box went over the bar after receiving a decent pass from Ibrahim Mahudhee.

Keric Andrej then wasted a glorious opportunity to level the score in stoppage-time of the second half as he missed the chance for an empty net when he dragged the shot over the bar.
