Qualifying for the AFC Cup is a great achievement says TC Sports boss Mohamed Nizam.
TC Sports qualified for the AFC Cup playoff slot as they are the runners up of Dhivehi League and are set to play in the final of FA Cup with New Radiant. The playoff slot for AFC Cup will be awarded to Champions of FA Cup while the direct slot is for the Champions of Dhivehi League. In case if same team wins both the league and FA Cup, the second slot (playoff slot) will be awarded to the runners up of Dhivehi League.
Speaking exclusively to Maldivesoccer Nizam described qualifying for AFC as a great achievement for him and for the club.
“Its a great achievement for the club and for the players”.
“For me its history to travel this far with no key star players but with a very young club and with a bunch of juniors”
TC Sports will face champions of Bangladesh in the Preliminary home and away round on late January.
“If I am facing the play off with the team my target will be to qualify to the group stage and to travel to the highest and play maximum matches in the competition with maximum wins”.
Nizams next assignment is FA Cup final against New Radiant. After the final, he will again play New Radiant in the first semi of Presidents Cup.
Earlier this year TC has won a Friendly Competition at Bangladesh.
When asked about the plans for preparation for the next season, Nizam denies to comment as he still has important games ahead to think about.
“I will start thinking of my next season once 2017 season is over”.
