The host Bangladesh will kick off their SAFF campaign today against the underdog Bhutan. The match will be special for the two personalities in both benches. It will be a great one, for the spectators, as two English coaches will battle for a perfect start.
Bangladesh coach Jamie Day, the former Arsenal youth team player will come up against his fellow countrymen and the Bhutan Coach Trevor Morgan. Trevor is a former Bournemouth striker.
During the pre match press conference Trevor insisted that his colleague, Day have done a tremendous job with Bangladesh. But nothing is guaranteed in Football; Trevor gave clear indication that his young Bhutan side will come with all they have against the experienced Bangladesh team.
Day said that Trevor is an experience English coach. Also he will not take the expectation beyond the barrier to be claimed as the favorite to win the trophy.
He insisted that Bangladesh would first aim to progress form the group stage and then take their chances toward glory.
Bangladesh fans and players are aiming for revenge in front of their home crowd. But Day said no revenge spirit in his mindset and he would rather only aim for a perfect start for the campaign.
Day took over the role of Bangladesh head coach in last May. Since then the big wave in Bangladesh football kick started and he started people to follow his clear vision of improving Bangladesh football.
Trevor is winless so far as Bhutan Head Coach, but his superstar striker Chencho Gyeltshen is dreaming of reaching final of the tournament.
Bhutan defeated Bangladesh in Asian Cup qualifying round match in 2016. The 3-1 win for Bhutan in that match is the only victory for them against Bangladesh. Which
Trevor is highly rating Bangladesh to proceed from group. But he believes that his Bhutan side is capable of changing people’s perspective and reach next round of the tournament.
Bhutan is the least favorite of this competition. But Trevor never welcomes those stories. He just believes in what he is aiming for and he is full of positive vibe.
