Ashfaq’s hat-trick helps the Blues thrash Maalhos

New Radiants’s Ali Ashfaq was nearly at his best when he scored a superb hat-trick and setup further two goals in their 7-1 thrashing of Maalhos at the Galolhu National Stadium on Thursday evening in the ongoing Ooredoo Dhivehi Premier League.

Ali Fasir scored twice while Ahmed Abdulla and Ibrahim Fazeel were also among the goal scorers for the Blues.

The result saw, the Blues regain their top spot as they collected 27 points from 10 games, two ahead of their nearest rival TC Sports Club and seven ahead of Maziya on third place.

Meanwhile, Maalhos remained on sixth place with just 8 points after 10 games, five points of the fourth spot.

Ashfaq handed the perfect start to the Blues when he opened the scoring in the sixth minute with a stunning strike from inside the box, having received a brilliant ball from Hamza Mohamed.

In the 13th minute, Adrian Gallardo nearly found Fasir but the latter couldnt properly connect with the ball, it was collected by Maalhos keeper Ibrahim Zameer.

Four minutes later, Ashfaq had another chance from inside the box but he failed to find the target.

However, Maalhos found the equalizing goal on 18 minutes when Ahmed Arif netted a brilliant solo goal after receiving a superb long-ball from Ali Waseem.

Then on 21 minutes, Gallardo had a wonderful chance to score for the Blues but he headed onto the cross bar following a cross by Fazeel before Hamza headed wide from a cross by Rilwan Waheed.

Just around half hour mark, Fasir threaten to double his team’s lead when he struck the post with a brilliant free-kick from outside the box.

It was the Blues who had the best chances to score again after that, when Zameer made a decent save to deny Galllardo on 34 minutes.

During the stoppage-time of the first half, Fasir had another chance for the Blues but his shot was cleared by Maalhos players from in front of the goal.

The Blues started the second half strongly and Ashfaq put them ahead in the 46th minute when he fired a superb strike over the keepers head and onto the top corner of the net following a decent delivery from Rilwan Waheed.

Four minutes later, it was 3-1 for the Blues, Ashfaq provided the assist for Ahmed Abdulla who headed from inside the box.

Just around hour mark, at the other end, Abdulla Ibrahim tried his luck from the distance but his shot went straight into the gloves of the Blues keeper Imran Mohamed.

Moments later, Ali Fasir should have done better when his goal bound cross went across the face of the goal unattained.

Then on 66 minutes, Imran produced a superb save to deny Angel Munoz from a decent free-kick from outside the box.

Two minutes later, Fazeel made it 4-1 with a decent strike after receiving a decent ball from Ashfaq.

In the 72nd minute, Gallardo was unlucky not to be on score sheet as he hits the post from inside the box before he setup Fasir for the fifth goal of the match on 77 minutes.

Ashfaq made it 6-1 shortly afterwards as he completed his hat-trick with a superb finish from outside the box after receiving a decent ball from Hamza.

There were further chances for Gallardo but he couldnt convert any of them as both of his attempts went out, as it took a deflection off a defender.

Then Fasir added another goal for his side as he scored his second of the evening in the 90th minute after being setup by Gallardo.
