Milandhoo snatched a point

Milandhoo snatched a 1-1 draw at Galolhu National Stadium as Ishan Ibrahim’s late strike denied an important victory for Club Green Streets in their hunt for a top four finish in the ongoing Ooredoo Dhivehi Premier League.

The result saw, Club Green Streets regain their fourth spot with 13 points after 10 games, one ahead of Thinadhoo on fifth place, ultimately it’s two points dropped for them as they are now seven points behind Maziya on third place while Milandhoo are second-from-bottom with four matches left, as they have just 6 points from 10 games.

Club Green Streets came into this game without their regular first choice goal keeper Jun Kochi who missed out due to an injury while Ali Shamis was suspended for this game. Another notable absentee was their captain Faruhad Ismail. And they were boosted with the return of Petro Kovalchuk having served one match suspension.

Milandhoo almost create an opening in the 10th minute when Ibrahim Saeed nearly found Abdulla Majid with a free-kick from the distance, but the latter couldn’t connect with the ball as the keeper Ahmed Fairooz collected it.

Three minutes later, William Macko had the next chance of the game for Club Green Streets but he failed to hit the target from inside the box.

In the 17th minute, Ismail Fathuhee had another decent chance for Milandhoo but his shot was blocked by Fairooz before Adam Imran’s shot from inside the box was blocked by Mohamed Nazaam moments later.

Then on 34 minutes, Mohamed Saaif wasted a decent chance from inside the box as he headed over the bar from Sobol Illia’s corner kick before Ibrahim Rizuhaan’s fired a shot straight at Milandhoo keeper Mohamed Imran from outside the box.

Six minutes before the break, William came inches from scoring an opener when he struck the cross bar with a decent free-kick near the edge of the box.

The deadlock was broken four minutes after restart, when Rizuhaan was on the end of a brilliant cross from Nazaam as the former netted a stunning header past a hapless Imran.

William had a glorious chance to double their lead on 53 minutes but he fired the shot straight into the gloves of Imran.

Then on 62 minutes, Illia forced a decent save from Imran having received a decent pass from William.

In the 75th minute, Ishan missed a wonderful chance to level the score from inside the six-yard box as he struck the cross bar with a decent strike.

Rizuhaan was the next to hit the cross bar with a brilliant strike from outside the box.

Moments later, Mukhtaar Naseer forced a superb save from Imran with a close range strike.

Imran was called into action again when Nazaam forced another save from Milandhoo keeper with a decent shot from inside the box.

Ishan made up for his earlier misses, as he struck an impressive equalizing goal after receiving a brilliant long-ball from Saeed with three minutes remaining on the clock.

During the stoppage-time, Green Streets were indebted to a fine piece of goalkeeping from Fairooz, making his 1st appearance in the league, as he made an excellent block to deny Ishan from close range.
