TC go top with an easy win

TC Sports Club go top of the league table after an easy 4-0 win over Kudahuvadhoo on Wednesday evening at the Galolhu National Stadium in the ongoing Ooredoo Dhivehi Premier League.

Abdulla Haneef, Naiz Hassan, Cornelius Stewart and Ibrahim Mahudhee were among the goal scorers for TC Sports Club.

The result saw, TC Sports Club climbed to first place with 25 points from 10 games, one ahead New Radiant and five ahead of Maziya but the Blues could reclaim the top spot if they managed to win their game against Maalhos on Thursday.

Meanwhile, Kudahuvadhoo are still without a win as they remained on the bottom of the table with just two points from 10 games.

Kudahuvadhoo came into the game without two of their regular first team members as both Afonja Jibola and Hassan Ibrahim missed out due to suspension.

TC Sports Club began the game at a fierce pace and they opened the scoring with just five minutes on the clock when Haneef found the back of the net from inside the box.

Naiz soon dragged an effort wide from inside the box for TC Sports Club, before Cornelius and Mahudhee failed to hit the target with their respective efforts from inside the box.

As the half hour mark approached, opportunities continued to come for TC Sports Club, with Cornelius missing the target again, this time by few inches as he hits the side netting, while Mahudhee fired wide from inside the box.

Then on 31 minutes, Mohamed Samir had another decent chance to extend his team’s lead from a free-kick but it was fisted away by Kudahuvadhoo keeper Abdulla Yazeed.

Naiz double their lead on 42 minutes after receiving a brilliant pass from Mahudhee as he found the top corner of the net.

Shortly before the break, Cornelius made it 3-0 after receiving another fine pass from Mahudhee.

Three minutes into the second half, it was nearly 4-0 but Cornelius missed the target as he fired the shot wide.

In the 61st minute, Mahudhee scored the fourth goal of the match as he found the back of the net with a strike from outside the box.

Haneef might have added another goal to his name on 64 minutes but he missed the target.

TC Sports Club’s coach Mohamed Nizam introduced new players to the pitch for the last 20 minutes but they couldn’t add another goal to their 4-0 score line as the damage had already been done by then despite failing to find the net in the last half an hour of the game they went on to secure an easy three points in their hunt for the title.
