Maziya Sports and Recreation Club has clinched Male’ League after a 1 – 1 draw against New Radiant in the last game of the league match tonight.

The result saw Maziya, Club Green Streets and New Radiant level on 27 points at the top but Maziya are ahead on superior goal difference, Blues were forced to settle for the third spot behind the new boys, Green Streets. TC Sports Club finished on fourth spot level on 22 points with Club Eagles and Victory Sports Club on fifth and sixth place respectively.

Maziya were without Assad Ali snd Hussain Niyaz , all missing out due to suspension.

Meanwhile, New Radiant were still without their Captain and Goal Keeper Imran Mohamed who was missing due to injury. But the Blues were boosted with the return of Ibrahim Fazeel and Ali Ashfaq in the latest transfer market.

The Blues boss Oscar Bruzon started with two of his four recent signings, Fazeel and Angel Ruiz Paz in the starting lineup against Maziya with Ashfaq named among the substitutes. Only absentee was Lebanese defender Hussein El Dohr.

However, it was Fazeel who opened the scoring two minutes into the game with a brilliant header off Ali Fasir’s cross down the left flank.

Maziya took the control of the game almost immediately after conceding that goal and clearly they were the better side throughout most of the first period.

Yasfaad Habeeb wasted a decent chance just around half hour mark as he fired the shot straight into the gloves of Keeper Abdulla Ziyazan, while Mohamed Umair missed another decent chance in the 41st minute, when his shot was blocked by New Radiant defenders.

Shortly after half-time, Asadhulla Abdulla was unlucky not to level the score after poor defensive play from New Radiant but he couldn’t beat Keeper Ziyazan.

At the other end, Adrian Gallardo had a decent chance to increase the lead for New Radiant but his effort went over the bar.

Eventually, the equalizer arrived in the 59th minute when Amdhaan Ali headed from the free-kick by Milos Kovacevic.

New Radiant tried to come back into the game after Maziya’s goal but they were unsuccessful with attempts from Mohamed Rasheed and Fasir before Asadhulla had another chance to extend the lead but he failed to find the target.
