Maziya back to winning form and on top

Maziya got back to winning ways having suffered two losses in their last two games in the league as they secured a comfortable 3-0 win against United Victory in the Male’ League game played tonight.

Maziya got off to a perfect start when Alexandar Rakic struck in the seventh minute of the match, the serbian striker headed into the top corner of the net from a brilliantly taken corner by Mohamed Umair.

Two minutes later, it was 2-0 for Maziya, when Assad Ali fired a shot into the bottom corner of the net from inside the box.

And just around half hour mark, Maziya added a third through Andrei Cordos, with a brilliant strike from outside of the box.

The woodwork then came to United Victory’s rescue in the 35th minute when Asadhulla Abdulla hits the post with a header from inside the box.

In the last minute of the first half, Hussain Shimaz had a decent chance to pull one back for United Victory but his shot from inside the box went straight to Maziya keeper Pavel Matiash.

In the 70th minute Asadhulla should have increased his team’s lead after receiving a fine cross by Rakic but he headed straight into the gloves of United Victory Keeper Ruslan Amirov.

Then on, 84th minute, Rakic had a decent chance from a free-kick but his shot from outside the box hits the defensive wall and went out for a corner.

Then the resulting corner kick from second half substitute, Hussain Niyaz was headed wide by Asadhulla from close range.

Then a minute later, he missed another vital chance when he shot wide from inside the box.

The result saw, Maziya cement their place at the top with 24 points, three ahead of New Radiant on second place, while United Victory remained second from bottom after another mediocre performance.

Club Eagles will play Club Valencia in the next game of Male’ League on Monday, 3rd July 2017 at 1600hrs.
