Second half strike from substitute Ahmed Naufal helped Club Eagles secured a narrow 1-0 win over struggling United Victory in the Male’ League game played last night.
Good chances were hard to come by in a goalless first half that had a very disappointing performance from both sides.
But unlike the first half, Club Eagles started the second half promisingly and they completely dominated the opening 10-15 minutes right after the break.
And they were almost rewarded for it in the 55th minute but Ahmed Rizuwan fired his free-kick from outside the box straight to keeper Ruslan Amirov.
Then, on 62 minutes Club Eagles best chance of the game fell to Ibrahim Aisam when he rattled the bar from a shot from inside the box.
Club Eagles didn’t have to wait any longer for another opportunity, shortly after coming on as a substitute, Naufal broke the deadlock in the 66th minute when he fired a shot from inside the box into the bottom corner of the net.
Two minutes later, Rizuwan could have double their lead, but he missed the target.
Club Eagles had an opportunity to double the lead on 71 minutes when Rizuwan fired a free-kick inches over the bar from edge of the box down the left side.
With just 13 minutes left on the clock, Vukobrat Dorde came close with an equalizer for United Victory with a header from inside the box which was cleared in front of the goal by Club Eagles defender Elhussiny Mahmoud.
The result saw Club Eagles, move back to fourth place with 13 points, one point behind third-placed Club Green Streets.
Third consecutive defeat for United Victory means they still lies at second from bottom, with just three points from 8 games.
TC Sports Club will be up against Club Valencia in the next game of Male’ League on Thursday.
