Maziya continues  impressive form

Maziya’s impressive form in domestic league continued as they came from a goal down to claim an important 2-1 victory against rivals New Radiant in Male’ League.
Akram Abdul Ghani headed the opener for New Radiant in the last minute of the first half. Seven minutes after the break, Alexandar Rakic equalized for Maziya and Hassan Shifaz scored the winning goal in the 73rd minute.

Maziya’s Ashad Ali had the first chance to open the scoring in the 9th minute when he singlehandedly tried to take on New Radiant defence but his shot from inside the box went wide of the post.

Four minutes later New Radiant’s best chance fell to Ali Fasir after receiving the ball from Akram, his shot was punched away for a corner by Maziya’s Keeper Pavel Matiash.

Ashad Ali had another chance to score when he sent his header over the bar in the 35th minute.

Akram broke the deadlock in the dying minutes of the first half through a header after receiving a cross from Gallardo while he was unmarked at far post.

Maziya started the second half promisingly, and they dominated the opening minutes of the second half. As a result, the equalizer arrived when Rakic fired in a superb volley from inside the box after 52 minutes.

Maziya’s captain Asadhulla were presented with a golden chance to take the lead after New Radiant defenders failed to clear the ball just outside the box. Asadhulla’s well taken shot hits the underside of the bar in the 67th minute.

Seven minutes later Asadhulla made up for his missed chance when his inch-perfect pass was slotted in by second half substitute Hassan Shifaz to give Maziya the lead.

In the 85th minute, Ali Fasir missed a vital chance to equalize for New Radiant but his shot went over the bar.

Maziya players showed great composure and resilience even in the last minutes of the game to stop New Radiant from creating further goal scoring chances. And they held on to their narrow lead till the last whistle as they clinched a hard fought victory against table toppers, New Radiant to earn a vital 3 points.

New Radiant are still at the top of the table with 9 points despite the loss, Maziya has got same number points with a game in hand but they are at second place with the difference of goals forwarded.

Club Green Streets will play against United Victory in tonight’s game in Male’ League.
