Umair preparing for ‘huge challenge’ against Bengaluru FC

Vice-Captain of Maziya SR, Mohamed Umair says that the match against Bengaluru FC is going to be the toughest match in the season for his side, and all his colleagues are preparing to win the match. Maziya SR will host Bengaluru FC on Tuesday 4th of April 2017.
Speaking exclusively to Maldivesoccer.com, Umair who has played against Bengaluru twice said that the match will not be easy for either side. He noted that he is aware of the coaching staff and foreign players of Bengaluru. Also he noted that their captain Sunil Chetri is a player who can change a game at any time.

“Surely it’s not going to be any easy encounter for either side. Neither them nor us can take this game light”.

“I am aware of their coach Albert who has guided world’s best players like Ronaldinho. So it is obvious that his tactics and game plans will make the match more difficult for us”.

Bengaluru FC will be coached by former Barcelona and Galatasaray Assistant Coach Albert Roca Pujol. His foreign players include Juan Antonio González Fernández of Spain, who played for Real Madrid B Team.

“Apart from their high profile foreign players, they have got Chetri who is capable of changing a game at any time”.

“But we will be fully prepared for a win against them. We will go out only to fight for a win”.

Maziya SR and Bengaluru FC has met twice and Bengaluru won both home and away games by an identical 2-1 margin. Umair is the only local player who has scored against Bengaluru FC, who are also the runners up of last edition of AFC Cup. But Umair believes that the past results will not have anything to do with the upcoming match.


Maziya has played four games in the current football season so far including one AFC Cup game. Maziya has won all four games without conceding a single goal.

“The past results will not have anything to do with this match”.

“We have won all games in the season so far including the game against Abahani in the AFC Cup. But these teams cannot be even compared with Bengaluru FC”. 

“We have to concentrate in all ninety minutes and we have to be very disciplined through out the game”. 

“This is going to be toughest match. This will be a huge challenge for us”.
