Sobah (Red) playing against Eagles last season. Victory to take action against their skipper soon.

Male’, MALDIVES – Victory Sports Club has decided to take disciplinary actions against captain Sobah Mohamed and informed him to wait till the club management to decide his future with the club.

Victory Sports Club’s General Secretary Ali Faiz said to maldivesoccer.com that Sobah did a big mistake and that is something they didn’t expect from such a senior player.

"He refused to go to warm up in the Dhiraagu Dhivehi League match against Eagles and which is something that we didn’t expect from such a player like Sobah.”

“We haven’t decided about his future with the club yet but this is totally unacceptable. We are bringing players to play and if they refused to play there is no reason to bring in. But still we haven’t decided about his future.”

Speaking to maldivesoccer.com Sobah Mohamed said that he didn’t do anything wrong and he is trying everything possible to bring success to the club.

“I never do anything wrong and some officials of the club was blaming false allegations against me. I never tried anything bad and I am always doing well for the betterment of the team.”

“This is my 10th season with Victory and I have been with them in a terrible time in the history of the club and even I did a lot of work to bring players to the team for this team. Then why should I do such a silly thing.”

Sobah said he is fit and participated in the practices previously but he didn’t get a chance to play during the last three games.

A reliable source has confirmed to maldivesoccer.com that Victory coach Athif has said to the officials of the club that he will not continue as a coach if the club management decided to keep Sobah in the team.

If sobah doesn't recognise that refusing to go warm up to participate in a game is a mistake then I guess he has a problem. If he thinks he is above the coach he has a problem.

This typifies Maldivian football when one of the most experienced professionals fails to recognize an indispensable part of his job (i.e. warming up before a match) as necessary. What sort of message does this give to the young players?
