Thank you dhagandey for the services-- you will be remembered as the player who almost single handedly shouldered the hopes of lakh of passionate followers of football and took a tiny island nation beyond the confines of South Asia and to the attention of region. You might not have developed into the player we had had in mind owing to the decision taken for you by the the club and people close to you when you were a teenager. Nevertheless the potential you had shown was mesmerizing. You have been an inspiration to thousands of kids who looked up to you as their hero. You showed that despite coming from difficult background that if you work hard with good talent you can still reach great heights in your chosen career. Indeed yours was illustrious by miles. Before you no maldivian had known more than 30 goals can be scored in a season. Before you nobody had become the best player at the age of 18. Before you nobody had scored more than 350 career goals. Before you nobody had scored more than 50 goals goals for the national team. All because maldives did not have a player like you. A player by the name of ali ashfaq!
