Incheon, SOUTH KOREA – Shafiu Ahmed and Muslih Mohamed will join the Maldives Under 23 team on Wednesday when the AFC gave approval to change the list of players today.

Maldives national team coach Drago Mamic said today that with the approval from the AFC to change the player’s list he has called Shafiu and Muslih.

“During today’s managers meeting almost all the teams requested to change the players and the AFC gave the green signal to change the list and I have decided to call Shafiu and Muslih.”

“Shafiu is always ready for the national duty and I really appreciate his service for the team.”

“At the moment Ashfaq is not here and Rilwan is injured and he can’t play during this tournament. We have tried everything whether he can play or not and he has showed his will to play, but he can’t play and we don’t want to take a risk and kill his career.”

National team physician Ahmed Shakeeb said Rilwan’s got a chronic knee injury and he needs rest.

“It is a chronic knee injury and he needs to rest. We have to make an MRI scan to assess his situation. If we used him in the matches with that injury he may need a longer period of time to recover and we don’t want to take a risk.”

Rilwan will depart to Maldives tomorrow evening while Shafiu Ahmed and Mohamed Muslih will join the team on Wednesday.

Hope coach will not jump into a blame game with the defeats. Because players are not the culprits. The real blame lies with FAM. They are the people who did not see the importance of a good camp and at least a friendly.
