Male’, MALDIVES – Victory’s Hussain Shimaz scored a hat trick against Mahibadhoo to win the game by 3-2 in tonight’s game in the ongoing Dhiraagu Dhivehi League.

Both the teams started the match without their key players due to suspension. Mahibadhoo without Hussain Niyaz while Victory played without Awilo.

Hussain Shimaz broke the deadlock in the 6th minute when Mahibadhoo players failed to clear the ball inside the box. Ismail Mohamed tried to penetrate the defense line of Mahibadhoo but he was blocked and Shimaz's shot from the loose ball went straight to the far bottom corner of the goal.

Victory’s doubled the lead in the 25th minute from a wonderful header by Hussain Shimaz inside the box from a cross taken by Kaka.

Mahibadhoo started the second half very well and created good chances. In the 51st minute Patrick made a good shot inside the box but Ali Shareef blocked it.

Three minutes later Midhuhath missed a golden opportunity to score, Keeper Athif saved his shot inside the box.

Abdullla Midhuhath scored Mahibadhoo’s first goal of the night from a superb cross from Tahi. Midhuhath’s shot inside the box went straight to the bottom corner of the goal.

In the 66th minute keeper Athif made another good save to stop a powerful shot from Junaidh.

Three minutes before the normal time Shimaz nets his hat trick of the night from a very tight angle. Shauya penetrated the defense line and made a good shot but keeper blocked it and Shimaz scores from the rebounded ball.

In the additional time of the game Mahibadhoo’s Midhuhath scored a wonderful goal from a free kick on the edge of the penalty area to convert the score to 3-2.

After the match Victory’s coach Athif said that it is a good achievement to finish the first round with 10 points when compared to the team they have.

“It is a good achievement for us getting 10 points from the first round as this team played relegation last year.”

“We played very well and I can say Shimaz made the difference but there are other players who helped him to score three goals in this match.”

On the other hand Mahibadhoo coach Mohamed Shiyaz said that he is not happy with the result but the team is improving.

“I am not happy with the result but the team is improving a lot and it will take some time.”

“The only problem is we are conceding easy goals in every match and I will not blame any body for that. Our players are very inexperienced and they need time.”
