National team departs to Bangkok

Male’, MALDIVES – Maldives national football team has departed to Bangkok for a 10 days training camp ahead of the AFC Challenge Cup to be held in 19th May in the Maldives.

According to FAM players from Maziya will join the national team on 26th after returning from Malaysia.

National team manager Ahmed Mahloof has said that they will play three friendly games in Bangkok,

“We will play three friendly games in Bangkok and 2 games a high level clubs from Thailand and the other match will be a selection of players from Thai U19 and U23. The games is scheduled for 27th, 29th and 1st of May.”

Maldives national team coach Drago Mamic has said that he is happy to have a training camp abroad.

“I am happy that FAM has arranged a training camp somewhere. This will be the first time that I can use all the players during the training and during these days I can do a lot with the players to prepare for the AFC Challenge Cup.”

Maldives is grouped with Myanmar, Palestine and Kyrgyzstan in group A. Maldives will play their first game in the completion on 19th May at 2000 hours against Myanmar.

Maldives will fail pathetically. No one is really trying to promote football in maldives. After dhagandey retires Maldives will be just another Bhutan. Hell, even Bhutan are improving these days...pathetic maldives football. :/
