Maziya goes top

Male’, MALDIVES – Maziya Sports and Recreation Club won their first match against Victory in the third round of Dhiraagu Dhivehi League by 3-1 tonight to go on top of the league standing with an extra game played.

Ahmed Nashid opened the scoring for Maziya in the sixth minute from a descent header from a corner kick by Samdhooh.

Maziya failed to keep the lead for so long and Ibrahim Shafraz leveled the game for Victory from a header from a well-taken corner kick from Viktor.

Maziya’s Shifaz took the lead for the second time in the 20th minute from a nice shot inside the box.

In the 31st minute, Afsal hits the woodwork from a good shot inside the box.

In the 57th minute keeper Faseeh was forced to stop the header from Asadhulla inside the box.

In the last minute of the game referee awarded a penalty to Maziya when Mazhar brought down Asadhulla inside the box. He scored his 23rd goal of the season from the spot and converted the score line to 3-1.

New Radiant will play against Club Valencia tomorrow at 1550 hours.
