Eagles to face Maziya

Male’, MALDIVES – Club Eagles will play against Maziya in the second semifinal of the Preisdent’s Cup after a1-0 win against Victory in the semi final play-off game played last night.

In the 24th minute Eagles keeper Faisal made a good save to stop the shot from Ifaz inside the box.

In the 42nd minute Adhuham missed a golden opportunity to break the deadlock from a shot inside the box. Keeper Athif made a superb attempt to block it.

Two minutes later Awilo’s shot inside the box was blocked by Faisal for a corner kick.

In the 57th minute Ismail Easa broke the deadlock from a penalty, which referee awarded for a foul committed by Mazhar inside the box.

In the 67th minute Easa penetrated the defense line of Victory and even scored from that but referee whistled for a foul.

In the 84th minute Awilo missed a good chance to level the game inside the box which he shot wide.

The winner of semi final game between Eagles and Maziya will face defending champions New Radiant in the final on 30th November.

A good opportunity for Asadulla to break 30-goal mark for the first time after Ashfaq had breached the mark way back in 2003 and become the second player in the history of Maldives football. He just needs one.

That would be an amazing achievement for Asadhulla. I remember making fun of him when he was in Valencia when he scored only 2 goals all season. But credit to him, he put his head down and worked really hard to improve himself and is now the best centre forward of the country. Moving to Maziya has really helped him to kickstart his career. It would be awesome if he plays more for the national team as the key centre forward, with Dhagey as the supporting striker. We will see goals, goals and more goals!
