Isn't it bizarre that Maldives play their league on weekdays while the rest of the world prefer to play theirs on weekends, for the simple reason holiday means more people will get the chance to go the stadium. Our league is suffering big time, lack of spectators, yet FAM - entrusted to look after the wellbeing of the game and to take all the necessary measures to reverse the trend of dwindling supporters and revive football before the inevitable happen - is gleefully conducting it on weekdays. The few diehard fans are forced to squeeze some time between their office duty and office finishing hours if they want to watch a match. How does that help football? Or the future of the game?In this era of million distractions for eyeballs, when the product fans get to see lacks marketability at least stick to the basics of present days. Play the game on weekends! Maximise the chance for the fans, as much as possible!

Much agreed. I think weekends and evening should be a serious consideration. In addition, clubs need to liaise with secondary schools to entice the masses. Perhaps, if they organise school visits and conduct talks / presentations targeted at school age audiences with the help of FAM and school leaders, they could become a reality.

4:00 PM kick-off on a weekday is just laughable. But unfortunately, that's what happens when we have only one venue to play football. In Malaysia, their authorities began to notice a diminishing interest in local football and decided to switch the kick-off times so that they don't clash with the European league matches shown on live television. So the supporters of their local clubs can attend the stadiums to cheer on their sides, before going home and turning on their televisions to watch their favourite European teams play. FAM should've implemented this policy long ago, as well as providing additional venues to play the matches. We are now in 2016 and still playing our football the same way as we were in 1972.

Looks like New Radiant is entering into another bout of hibernation after an unparalleled period of success just like the low key period after their 2005 AFC Cup semi-finals triumph! In that period they were hovering around mid-table looking imminently susceptible to being sucked into relegation battle before Ballack came to the rescue. This time also it does not look any different! The precursor for a bad season has already begun -- half the squad is on grievance mode as the players are not paid their monthly salaries! They are unable to break down the opponents they usually walk through!

"After this match league matches will be resumed in June 12th after the mid-season transfer break." Mid-season? What mid-season are they talking about? We are only 3 games in to the new season and still playing the first round. Frankly, the scheduling boggles my mind. I just wonder if those who were drawing up the schedules were in the right state of mind when they did their work.
