malaysian teams wont reach to further level in AFC Cup unless they bring more talented and good coaches from foreign countries. ashfag should have gone to indian league so that AFC would focus more and might get the Best player of AFC. 2 years contract means we wont have a footballer from our country who will play in J league or any higher league in any near future. i was hopeful dhangandey would play more clubs .

I think the Malaysian teams are playing in the AFC Champions League qualifiers this time, similar to the Thai clubs. Thai Premier League champions Buriram United did quite well in the Champions League last year, reaching the quarter-finals. Malaysian clubs have invested a lot in the past few years after their domestic football had hit an all-time low, but they are definitely on the up now and in my opinion it is good that Ashfaq decided to stay there. I do not rate the Indian domestic competition as it is not good for player development. Their new Indian Super League is also not recognized by AFC as it is just a gitz and glamour tournament organized in the middle of their I-league season in an attempt by their business corporations to make some easy cash. Most of the fans of the I-league that I spoke to online are boycotting the ISL matches, which are attended by people who don't usually follow Indian football and are caught up with the hype made before the tournament. I would urge all Maldivian players not to get fooled by the bright lights of the ISL and instead look to the East, like Malaysia or Thailand. J-League, K-League and A-League would be even better, but I do not think they are looking into the South Asian market too much yet.
