Ashfaq – Best in South Asia

Male’, MALDIVES – Maldives national team captain Ali Ashfaq was listed as the best player in the South Asia by a sports website called eultimate goal.

www.eultimategoal.com selected 10 players from Asia and the prolific striker was listed as number one. Ashfaq has scored 13 goals from 14 matches in this season with Malaysian Premier League side PDRM FA. And also he has scored 38 goals for the Maldives national team from 54 games.

Ali Ashfaq named as the world’s second best top goal scorer of 2013 by the International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS) ahead of four time FIFA Ballon d’Or winner, Barcelona’s Lionel Messi and Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

The other players in this list includes Afghanistan’s Mansur Fagiryar, Balal Arezou, Sanjar Ahmadi, Nepal’s Bimal Gharti, Rohit Chand, India’s Sunil Chettri, Subrata Pal, Pakistan’s Zesh Rahman and Bangladesh’s Jamal Bhuyan.

south asia and asia is very different, you'd have to be a bit delusional if u think someone who plays in malaysian second tier is on the same level as someone the top leagues in asia... Japan, Korea, China, Saudi Arabia and Iran are all in Asia. sure he's turned down european offers, those offers where for him to play for their C team or even academy teams
