Manila, PHILIPPINES – Maldives national team caretaker coach Ismail Mahfooz (Imma) said that the training camp in Philippines would be very helpful to prepare his team for the World Cup Qualifying match against China.

“We did two training sessions in Male and one training in Philippines and we will play two friendly games in Philippines ahead of China. So I believe it will be very helpful for us to prepare for the match against China.” Imma said in the press conference held at Century Park Hotel, Manila.

“Stallion FC is not a weak team but we will try to prepare for the match against China in this match as well as the match against Philippines. With that only we can benefit for the match against China.”

Meanwhile national team player Akram Abdul Ghani said that they didn’t have enough time to prepare for a match against China.

When are we going to stop hearing the phrase “we did not get enough time to prepare for this match or this tournament”? Common on nobody is asking you to humiliate China at their home and send them crying, so no need to jump into the usual plethora of excuses to deflect away any blame that come in the way of team. You just do your best and try to minimise the unusual mistakes that has cost us games by huge margin. Everybody knows China is big powerhouse of Asia, and a team like us will not stand much of a chance. So don’t kick-start the campaign with the old age slogan “we did not have enough time, we did not have enough time” as that will inadvertently send players into a zone of complacency and carelessness.
