Valencia off to Bhutan for AFC Cup

Club Valencia Captain Shafiu Ahmed says despite poor preparations, they are still confident they can spring a surprise at Bhutan in the AFC Cup play off against Thimphu City. Club Valencia departed to Bhutan yesterday to play the match against Bhutanese Champion Thimphu city on 31st January.

Speaking exclusively to Maldivesoccer.com Shafiu said that his side is confident on achieving at least an away point. 
 

“We are confident that we will achieve at least a point. We will go for a win, but at least we will get a point”

Club Valencia secured a spot in AFC Cup play off as the Champions of FA Cup. Even though they won a spot in play off, Valencia was poor in preparations. They started the trainings around a week ago.

“We had a poor preparations but the team is good and we are hoping for the best”

Valencia has been weakened after some key figures left the team for the new season. Mohomed Arif, Akram Abdul Gani and Hassan Adham are among the key figures who left.

Club Valencia will host Thimphu City in the second leg of play off in 7th February. If wins against Thimphu on aggregate Valencia will face either Mohan Bagan or Colombo FC.
