Fadhuwa shines as Maldives beat Sri Lanka

Maldives woman’s national team started The 2016 SAFF Women’s Championship campaign in style today beating Sri Lanka by five goals to two. Captain Fadhwa Zahir scored a hat-trick while Mariyam Rifa and Aminath Shamila scored the other two goals.

Maldives will face group A leaders Nepal on 28th December who won against Bhutan by a huge margin of eight goals to nil today.

Host India, Afghanistan and Bangladesh is placed in the group B.

This is the 4th edition of SAFF Women’s Championship. All SAARC countries except Pakistan takes part in the tournament which will end on 4th January.
