AFC has denied Maldivian Clubs from participating AFC Cup 2019, as Football Association of Maldives failed to issue Club License for any Maldivian Clubs.

According to a letter send to FAM by AFC, AFC considered to extend the time for FAM to issue the license but FAM failed to fulfill the requirements even upon extension of time.

As no Maldivian teams are allowed for the next edition of AFC Cup, a team from Nepal has been allowed for the spot of Maldives.

Draw for AFC Cup 2019 was held at Malaysia yesterday.

This is the first time a Maldivian club has not got a chance since the AFC Cup was started in 2004. Maldivian side, New Radiant had twice reached the knock out stage of AFC Cup.
