TC Sports Club beat Foakaidhoo tonight in Dhiraagu Dhivehi Premier League by 5-1 and restored their 5 point gap.
With tonight’s win, TC are at the top of the league with 33 points. Maziya are in second with 28 points. After today’s fixtures, all the teams has played 12 games and remaining 4 matches of each team will be played after the International break. Maldives National team will depart neighboring country Malaysia for a friendly which is scheduled to play on 3rd November.
Ibrahim Mahudhee gave the lead for TC in the 12th minute when Ishan Ibrahim’s initial shot was blocked by Foakaidhoo defender. Ali Samir double the lead before the break from a neat pass played by in form Ali Ashfaq. Ahmed Rilwan also came close in the dying seconds of first half as his close range shot went over the bar.
Samir scored twice inside four minutes of the second half and completed his hatrick. His third goal of the match was a penalty awarded by the referee for a foul on Ashfaq.
Ashfaq added a fifth in the 77th minute beating three defenders He also came close adding a sixth. But his both efforts were saved by Foakaidhoo goalkeeper Hanif Saqib. Usam scored a consolation goal for Foakaidhoo in the 89th minute. After the match ended, Referee Adam Fazeel showed a red card to Foakaidhoo goalkeeper Saqib for abusive language towards the referee.
