Club eagles who finished second in the first round of Dhiraagu Dhivehi Premier League with 20 points started second round with a bag of goals against helpless Nilandhoo.
Eagles won the game comfortably by 8-0. Both Ahmed Rizuvan and Mohamed Naim scored hatricks as they hammered Nilandhoo.
SAFF Suzuki Cup winner Hussain Shifau gave the lead for Eagles in the 23rd minute and three more goals came in the dying minutes as the first half ended 4-0 in favor of Club Eagles. Mohamed Naim added a second in the 39th minute and foreign midfielder Komilov Abdhurasul extended the lead in the 43rd minute. Naim added a fourth in the 45th minute to give a comfortable lead before the start of second half.
Ahmed Rizuvan scored twice at the start of second half. His first came in the 51st minute and second came in the 57th minute taking huge advantage of a mistake made by Nilandhoo defender.
Rizvan completed his hatrick in the 79th minute beating Nilandhoo goalkeeper to make it 7-0 to the Eagles. Including tonight’s hatrick, this was his 5th in the last 5 matches. Naim also completed his hatrick in the 89th minute.
Speaking at the post match press, Nilandhoo coach Adam Abdul Latheef said, they can’t compete with top level teams at this moment and they will try to improve the mistakes made tonight for the upcoming matches.
Eagles head coach Mohamed Shiyaz said, the only concern he has is they get limited time to recover from each match as the schedule is too tight. And when asked about why Rizuvan wasn’t included in the National Squad for the SAFF Suzuki Cup, Shiyaz said he expected him to be in the National Squad then, and now his current form should make him a starter too if there is no personal grudge between Rizvan and National Team management.
With tonight’s win, Eagles climb second above Maziya who beat Club Green Streets earlier today with 24 points from 10 games.
TC will play Victory tomorrow evening at 16:00 and Newradiant will play Foakaidhoo at 21:00.
