Maziya Sports beat Club Green Streets by 4-1 in today’s Dhiraagu Dhivehi Premier League.
Maziya now climb fourth in the league with 10 points from 6 games. Green Streets also have same number of points but, sits 5th behind Maziya on goal difference. Both encounters of these two teams ended 2-2 draws in Male’ League.
Maziya’s first goal in today’s match came in the 14th minute of the game. Naiz Hassan dribbles through Green Streets defender Samdhooh Mohamed to put the ball in to the back of the net through the hands of Green goalkeeper Labaan Shareef. Captain Asadhulla Abdulla had a great opportunity to double the lead in the 26th minute when he headed Yashfad Habeeb’s freekick over the bar. On the other hand, Mohamed Saaif of Green Streets also had a good chance to level the score before the half time. His close range shot was saved by the Maziya goalie Hussain Shareef.
Green Streets equalized after a few minutes to the start of second half. Experienced midfielder Shaffaz Mohamed headed the ball into the net from Avila’s cross. Few minutes later, Maziya bench appeal for a handball on Ashad Ali inside the Green Streets penalty area and Ismail Easa who was sitting on the bench was sent-off for abusive language towards referee.
Maziya took the lead once again in the 68th minute. Asadhulla was brought down in the box and the resulting penalty was calmly converted by Cornelius Stewart. Naiz came close adding another from a freekick. His thunderous strike hits the post. Later, he scored a third for Maziya in the 82nd minute from a corner and added another to complete his hatrick in the 86th minute and was also named man of the match.
