Thimarafushi 0-3 Nilandhoo

Dhiraagu Dhivehi Premier League resumes today after two months of delay with Nilandhoo securing their first win in the league against Thimarafushi.

Nilandhoo scored three times against the Champions of Minivan Championship Thimarafushi today. They opened the scoring in the dying minutes of the first half when their foreign striker Adoku Kweku Lucas scored the rebound ball from close range when Thimarafushi goalkeeper saved the initial shot by Nilandhoo player.

During the first half, both team had chances to put them infront. Nilandhoo Adhil Ali came close scoring in the 9th minute. His long range strike went over the bar. Thimarafushi also came close taking the lead in the 9th minute. But, striker Kouassi’s shot from the box hits the cross bar.

The best chance in the first half came in the 19th minute when Hussain Raif Ahmed of Nilandhoo’s shot inside the six yard box went into the hands of Thimarafushi goalkeeper.

During the second half, Nilandhoo pressed more to double the lead. Goal scorer Adoku Lucas shot from outside the box went right into the hands of the Thimarafushi Goalkeeper.

Nilandhoo almost double the lead in the 68th minute when substitute Ibrahim Furugan beat Thimarafushi goalkeeper and tried to find his teammate in the box. But, Thimarafushi defender cleared the pass before it finds his teammate.

Ibrahim Furugan and Adhil Ali scored twice inside 3 minutes in the final ten minutes of the game to extend the lead and secure three valuable points for Nilandhoo as the match ended 3-0 to Nilandhoo.
