Not exactly how this should go: Fasir

Maldives striker Ali Fasir is saddened by the poor performance by himself and the team in the ongoing SAFF Suzuki Cup 2018. Maldives qualified for the semifinal with a coin toss after a being all squared with Sri Lanka in all aspects and Fasir believes that that’s not how things should go.

A statement on his verified facebook page read.

Not exactly how this should go. Really saddened by the result. But it’s time to forget what happened and focus more on the next game

Fasir who started against Sri Lanka on Maldives’ first game last Friday was excluded from the starting lineup against Indian U23 side on final group stage game on Sunday. Fasir was introduced in the second half and failed to show his goal scoring talents. Neither Fasir nor Maldivian player has so far scored a goal in the tournament.

For the first time, Maldives finished a SAFF Championship group stage without scoring a goal. As runners-up of Group B, Maldives will face winners of Group A Nepal in the semifinal. Defending champions India will be up against Pakistan in the semifinal.
