Sri Lankan captain Sujan Perera who also play in Maldives has also congratulated and wished Maldives all the best on winning the toss against Sri Lanka to advance to the semifinal of SAFF Suzuki Cup 2018 after losing 2-0 to Indian U23 team.

Sujan has performed exceptionally well throughout the tournament though his side has eliminated after a coin toss.

Football Federation of Sri Lanka also congratulated Maldives on winning the toss against Sri Lanka to advance to the semifinal of SAFF Suzuki Cup 2018 after losing 2-0 to Indian U23 team. A statement on official facebook page of Football Federation of Sri Lanka read.

In a thrilling match between India and Maldives, India won by 2-0 today at Dhaka. This put Sri Lanka and Maldives at equal stage in all aspects, and according to the tournament regulations a team to advance was decided on a toss between Maldives and Sri Lanka. Both teams lost to an identical score of 2-0 against India and the meeting between Maldives and Sri Lanka ended goalless on Friday evening.

Maldives was fortunate to win the toss and will now progress to Semi Finals ageist Nepal

Sri Lankan Football Federation has marked the remarkable progress and improvement from Sri Lankan Football team in the last couple of months. Earlier this month, Sri Lanka won against Bangladesh in an international friendly before holding Maldives goalless. Maldives has scored 10 goals against Sri Lanka the last time they met each other before the 2018 Edition of SAFF Suzuki Cup.

Sri Lanka Football authorities says they are happy with the progress and will go forward step by step in a developing the national team with more experience.

Sri Lankan Football Federation has already announced their next International Friendly which is scheduled to take place at Colombo on the 12th or October 2018 against Malaysia.
