We will be prepared for any team: Jose Antonio Nogueira

Pakistan reserved a place in the semifinal of the Saff Suzuki Cup 2018 after beating Bhutan 3-0 in their third and final Group A match at Bangabandhu National Stadium. Bhutan who already lost hope of progressing next stage after two defeats in the first two games will depart home without scoring a single goal.

Muhammad Riaz gave Pakistan lead inside 20th minute from captain Saddam Hussain’s pass. Pakistan double the lead in the 28th minute when Hassan Naweed Bashir put the ball past Bhutan goalkeeper from a flawless pass over the Bhutan defense by Muhammad Ali. Pakistan added a third in the dying minutes of the game from Substitute Ahmed Faheem’s near post finish.

At the moment, both and India and Maldives are much stronger than us. Maldives might beat India to top the group. So, we will be prepared to play either team.

Speaking at the post match press conference, Pakistan coach Jose Antonio Nogueira said, He does not want to talk about winning the tournament as both India and Maldives are much stronger than his team at the moment.

“Maldives has a strong domestic league and they have lots of international players playing there. India are currently 90th in FIFA ranking. So, it won’t be an easy Semifinal.” He added.

Pakistan advance the semifinal of SAFF Suzuki Cup after thirteen years. The last time they played in the semifinal was back in 2005.
