Its a decision of coach to select the players, but I was surprised to see on media when coach said Umair was injured. Umair was fit and he passed all medical and physical tests. It is upto the coach to make the selection, but he cannot simply omit an experienced player saying that he was injured especially when he was not
The officials’ statement was backed by some players who spoke to Maldivesoccer.
“Yes, its true, Umair was fit when he was ruled out. We all are surprised to see him out. He is a key player of this team and he is among few players whom we can very much rely on and off the pitch”.
