We can win against Maldives: Packeer Ali

Speaking at the post match press conference, Sri Lanka Coach Nizam Packeer Ali Said that his team needs to improve and correct the mistakes made today against the defending champion India in SAFF Suzuki Cup Group B opener at Bangabandhu National Stadium and then they can win against Maldives.

“We will need to correct our mistakes made today against India and then in the next match, we can win against Maldives.”

Sri Lanka will face Maldives in their final match of the group on Friday and they will need to win if they want to stay in the tournament and advance into the Semifinal.

India is physically very strong and they have played more international games than us. Sri Lankan football is slowly improving and he believes that this team will develop lot more in the coming days. He added.

“I believe this team can improve and develop lot more in the coming days”

Sri Lanka lost their Group A opener against India by 2-0 today. Goals from Ashique Kuruniyan and Lallianzuala Channgte gave the defending champion a flying start to the campaign.

Bhutan will play Nepal and Host Bangladesh will play Pakistan tomorrow in Group A.
