Bangladesh Coach Jamie Day has praised his boys as they kicked off the SAFF Suzuki Cup with a comfortable home win against Bhutan. Two goals that came from two halves gave a 2-0 win for the hosts and the top of the group at the match day one.
Speaking at the post match press conference, Jamie stated that his side played exceptionally good.
The boys played exceptionally well today. We scored both our goals at the right time. I thought we deserved to win the game today, they’ve worked extremely hard up to this point. It was tough but we got the three points
We know that Chencho (Gyeltshen) can score goals but he only had one chance. I’m very happy with the defensive performance today and want to focus on the positives.”
Bangladesh will face Pakistan on Thursday. As Pakistan won their first game against Nepal and Bangladesh had won theirs: avoiding a loss will mathematically be an advantage for both sides to advance to the knockout stage.
