We are here to win the SAFF Championship: Sri Lanka

Sri Lankan Coach Mohamed Nizam Pakeer Ali has targeted to win the SAFF Suzuki Cup 2018. Sri Lanka will start the SAFF Campaign on 5th September against defending champions.

Speaking at the SAFF Suzkui Cup unveiling ceremony held at Uttara Motors Center on Sunday afternoon, coach Pakeer Ali expresses his confidence that Sri Lanka could clinch the title SAFF Championship

Our main target is to win the SAFF Cup. I cannot say it as a certainty but the players are in a good mentality, the Sri Lankan combination for this event is well balanced. There are youth and veteran players. The team is capable of giving a good account.

Sri Lanka is placed in Group B along with India and Maldives.

Sri Lankan Captain Subash Madushan has earlier said that his side has been on the right track after a planned preparation including overseas camp.

“We are ready. We went through a well-planned preparation including overseas camping to take part in this SAFF Championship”

“I am really happy about my team and it’s our time to take the Sri Lankan glory to International level”

Sri Lankan National team camped in South Korea in preparation for the SAFF Championship. They also played two friendly games against Lithuania recently in their preparation campaign for the SAFF Championship 2018. Sri Lanka has won their last friendly match against Bangladesh last week in front of 20,000 Bangladeshi supporters.

Sri Lanka has picked a squad of players with the experienced goalkeeper Sujan Perera, who has been playing in Maldives for last few years. He has been marked as the best goalkeeper in Maldivian league recently.
