Maldives wins first friendly

Maldives National Team wins the first training match against Qatari second division team Al-Markhiya on Tuesday evening. Maldives won the game by 4-3.

Hassan Naiz, Hamza Mohamed and Mohamed Arif scored the goals for Maldives. Hassan Naiz scored twice.

This is the first friendly game ahead of SAFF Championship which will start on 4th of September at Dhaka, Bangladesh. Maldives will play one more friendly game ahead of the tournament.

Maldives National Team has been training at Qatar since 6th of August with 27 players. Maldives team for SAFF Championship will travel to Dhaka directly from Doha.

Maldives is placed in Group B with India and Sri Lanka in the SAFF Championship. Maldives will face Sri Lanka on Maldives’ opening game on 7th September.
