We are ready to win: Rilwan

New Radiant defender Rilwan Waheed has advised his team-mates that they need to stop Bengaluru FC star Sunil Chetri for whole ninety minutes if they are to win the crucial match against Bengaluru this afternoon. The two sides are set to clash in the second leg of their AFC Cup group stage on Wednesday at National Stadium, and Rilwan Waheed is likely to start against regional giants Bengaluru FC.

Speaking exclusively to Maldivesoccer, Rilwan described the big game as the most important game in his life.

“This is the most important game in my life, myself and my team-mates are ready to prove that we can win the match and keep the hopes for the next round still alive”.

Rilwan Waheed played a vital role for the Blues when they reached the quarterfinals of AFC Cup in 2013. Rilwan recalled the memories by urging the supporters to back the team as always.

We play only for our supporters. We want the supporters to be with us the till the final whistle

The first leg between the two sides, dramatically ended in favor of Bengaluru with a last minute goal by Nishu Kumar where Substitute player Sunil Chetri changed the game. Rilwan believes Chetri will be the most important player of Bengaluru FC and has to keep an eye on him throughout the game.

“I have played against Chetri only once. I am excited and ready to play against him once again”.

“He’s the most important player for Bengaluru FC. But we know that Bengaluru FC are not only Chetri, It will be a very special game, and we have to enjoy it.”

As a player who plays for the right back, Rilwans main task would be stopping Bengaluru Captain Sunil Chetri. Rilwan said that his is ready for the task to do and to prove his commitment.

“I am ready to stop Chetri. I will do it, and I will prove that I deserve the right back position in the National Team as well”.

For New Radiant, a win could see the rise them over Bengaluru FC whereas defeat would all but confirm their exit. New Radiant has won their last home game in the AFC Cup against Indian Champions Aizawl FC with a hat-trick from the captain Ali Ashfaq.

“Ashfaq and Chetri are undoubtedly the best two players in the region and I am excited playing having the two legends on the pitch together”.
