U21 CUP: MAZIYA ADVANCED TO FINAL

Ibrahim Atheeg of Maziya scored a hat-trick in the 5-1 win against Thinadhoo to advance to the final of Youth Championship 2017. With the comfortable win against Thinadhoo in the four teams tournament, Maziya secured the first spot of the final.

Ibrahim Atheeg broke the deadlock in 22nd minute and later made his name twice on the score card to complete his hat-trick. He is also the top scorer of the tournament so far with four goals in three games. Hassan Fuwadh and Mohamed Sakhaau aslo made their names on the score card for Maziya while, Zilal Mohamed scored the goal for Thinadhoo.

Speaking after the game, Maziya Coach Ahmed Suzayr praised his boys for the performance.

:”Its good and as we scored five goals, its going to be a confidence boost for the players”

“As per the format of the tournament, we don’t have much time for the preparations, but we will be ready and our only focus is to win the championship”

On the other hand, Thinadhoo Coach Ahmed Niyaz sees the tournament as a good experience for the players.

“We are eliminated but its not bad I would say. It is a good experience for these young kids”.

“We lost mostly because of the tiredness as we play a game every other day”.

Defending Champions Club Eagles will face United Victory in the final group stage game this evening. Eagles need just a point to advance to the final.
