Thinadhoo missed a great chance to secure a place in the top four as they were held to a goalless draw in their game against Kudahuvadhoo in the ongoing Ooredoo Dhivehi Premier League.
The result means, Thinadhoo remained on fifth place with just 11 points from 9 games, one behind Club Green Streets on fourth place while Kudahuvadhoo remained on bottom of the table with just 2 points from 9 games.
Thinadhoo came into this game without their midfielder Imran Nasheed who missed out due to suspension.
And it was Thinadhoo who made the better start with Jose Avila forcing a decent save from Kudahuvadhoo keeper Abdulla Yazeed with just four minutes into the clock before Ahmed Rizuwan fired over the bar moments later.
Rizuwan had another opportunity on 12 minutes but his shot went straight into the gloves of keeper Yazeed.
Thinadhoo almost broke the deadlock in the 22nd minute when Rizuwan struck the cross bar with a decent header from inside the box having received a brilliant cross from Jose Avila down the left side then the rebounded shot from Mohamed Riswan was cleared by Kudahuvadhoo defenders.
In the 25th minute, Jose Avila had another chance for Thinadhoo but he struck the side netting from inside the box.
Two minutes later, Riswan wasted another wonderful chance to score when his shot from center of the box was saved by Yazeed.
Kudahuvadhoo’s best chance of the first half fell to Afonja Jibola in the 36th minute when his shot from outside the box was headed for goal but Thinadhoo keeper Dzhanibekov Ruslan kept it out.
Three minutes later, the best chance of the half fell to Rizuwan but he failed to hit the target from inside the six-yard box as he dragged the shot over the bar.
Rizuwan had another chance to score with four minutes remaining from the first half but before he could fire the shot the ball was cleared by Yazeed.
Then on 45 minutes, Jorge Caicedo wasted another chance for Thinadhoo as he headed wide from a decent free-kick from Rizuwan.
In the opening minutes of the second half, both Ibrahim Mubeen and Jose Avila had chances for Thinadhoo but both failed to hit the target.
In the 67th minute, Jose Avila had another decent opportunity to score after receiving a long ball from the midfield but he couldn’t connect with the ball as Kudahuvadhoo keeper Yazeed collected the ball.
Opportunities continued to come for Thinadhoo in the later part of the second half with the best chance falling to Ansar Ibrahim as he struck a free-kick from outside the box but his attempt was saved by Yazeed before Rizuwan failed to clearly test Yazeed with his effort in the last minutes of the game.
