Maalhos continued their impressive form in the second round of Ooredoo Dhivehi Premier League as they thrashed Milandhoo 5-1 at Galolhu National Stadium on Friday afternoon.

Angel Carrascosa Munoz’s superb form continued as he netted a hat-trick while Ahmed Arif and Ali Waseem also managed to get on the score sheet for high flying Maalhos. Ismail Fathuhee scored the only goal for the woeful Milandhoo.

The result saw Maalhos climbed above Milandhoo to sixth place as they are 3 points ahead of Milandhoo with 8 points from 9 games, two behind Thinadhoo and 4 behind Club Green Streets on fourth place.

Meanwhile, Milandhoo slipped to second from bottom after another heavy defeat as they are just four points ahead of Kudahuvadhoo on the bottom of the table.

Maalhos got off to a perfect start when Angel Munoz opened the scoring in the second minute with a decent strike from inside the box.

Angel Munoz doubled his team’s lead eight minutes later when he converted from the spot after the referee awarded a penalty to his side for a handball by Milandhoo player.

But Angel Munoz ensured that Maalhos would go into the break with a 4-1 lead when he fired a stunning free-kick onto the top corner of the net from just outside the box in the 36th minute.

With just seven minutes after restart, Maalhos were 5-1 ahead, thanks to Waseem who headed beyond Imran from close range after receiving a decent cross by Arif down the right side.

Just around hour mark, at the other end, Fathuhee missed a decent chance for Milandhoo when Zameer collected the ball before he could fire the shot.

In the 68th minute, Ishan Ibrahim had another chance for Milandhoo but he failed to connect with the ball from Ibrahim Saeed as Milandhoo keeper Zameer raced outside the penalty area and cleared the ball.

Two minutes later, Imran did well to clear the decent strike from Angel Munoz from inside the box before he was called into action again when he denied Arif in the 80th minute.

There were further chances for Maalhos, with Angel Munoz unfortunate when he missed a glorious chance to extend his team’s lead as he rattled the cross bar with a decent strike after receiving a fine pass from Arif with six minutes from time before he was denied again in the stoppage-time as he failed to beat Imran with a strike from inside the box.
