Keric nets twice as Maziya ease past Kudahuvadhoo

Keric Andrej scored twice as Maziya SRC stormed to a 4-0 victory over Kudahuvadhoo in the opening game of Ooredoo Dhivehi Premier League on Friday at Galolhu National Stadium.

Maziya lined up with new arrivals Keric, Mahmoud Ali Youssef, Bojan Mihajlovic and Ismail Easa in the XI, with the experienced Mohamed Arif coming on as a substitute while they were also boosted with the return of Moosa Yaameen from injury as he replaced the influential Assadh Ali in the last 15 minutes of the game.

Maziya Captain Asadhulla Abdulla gave an early lead for Male’ League Champions in the first minute after receiving a decent pass from Ismail Easa.

In the 13th minute, Asadhulla had another chance to extend the lead but his shot went over the bar before Keric wasted two decent chances in the opening 30 minutes as he fired wide on both occasions.

Cristian Dodzi missed a decent chance for Kudahuvadhoo in the 39th minute when his shot was blocked by Maziya defenders just inside the box.

Two minutes later Adam Shaheem had another chance for Kudahuvadhoo when tried his luck from the distance but his shot went wide.

Despite Maziya dominating the proceedings they had to wait until 56 minutes to double their lead as Keric made up for his earlier misses, finding the roof of the net with a decent strike from inside the box after beating his marker.

Few minutes later, Maziya defender Milos Kovacevic nearly added a third but his goal bound shot from the edge of the box was well saved by Kudahuvadhoo Keeper Abdulla Yazeed.

In the 68th minute, Asadhulla forced another save from Yazeed before Keric made it 3-0, a minute later after receiving a decent ball from Assadh Ali.

Then on 73 minutes, Kudahuvadhoo Captain Ibrahim Rashad added further misery to his team’s loss as he netted into his own net to change the score to 4-0, after trying to clear the cross from Maziya’s second half substitute Yasfaad Habeeb.

New Radiant SC will play TC Sports Club in the next game of Ooredoo Dhivehi Premier League on Saturday at 2100hrs.
