Blues advance to Dhivehi Premier League

Ali Fasir setup New Radiant’s both goals in their 2-0 win over United Victory as the blues secured a place in Dhivehi Premier League.

The Blues remain second in Male’ League standings after 11 games, with 24 points, one point behind Maziya. Meanwhile, United Victory are still at seventh place with just three points from 11 games.

Adrian Gallardo’s stunning opener was the only goal of a disappointing first half before a decent header from second half substitute Ahmed Suhail wrapped up the win in the last minute of regular time for the blues.

It took only 8 minutes for New Radiant to break the deadlock through Adrian Gallardo when he fired a decent shot from inside the box after receiving a pass from Fasir.

Then on 26 minutes, Fasir tried his luck from the distance but his shot went wide.

Then, a minute later, Abdulla Midhuhath fired a shot from inside the box straight into the gloves of United Victory keeper Ruslan Amirov.

The score would remain 1-0 at the break as there were fewer chances in the opening half with United Victory failing to test Imran Mohamed at New Radiant’s goal.

Just around hour mark, Ahmed Abdulla with another decent chance from inside the box as he headed wide from a corner by Abdulla Midhuhath.

In the 74th minute, New Radiant threatened to double their lead when Gallardo’s cross was nearly netted into his own net by United Victory defender Kudus Omolade Kelani as he tried to clear the ball.

Two minutes later, Gallardo had another decent chance to increase the lead but he fired the shot wide.

Gallardo might have made it 2-0 in the 83rd minute but he failed to control the pass from Fasir inside the box.

Second half substitute, Suhail saw his 89th-minute strike from inside the box punched for a corner by Ruslan, but he was not to be denied a minute later as he headed in from a corner by Fasir to change the score to 2-0.

Then, in stoppage time, Gallardo nearly grabbed a third but his shot from inside the box was punched for a corner by United Victory Keeper Ruslan.

Club Green Streets will play against Victory Sports Club on tonight at 2100hrs.
