Green Streets shocks mighty Blues with big win

Club Green Streets go third after clinching a shocking 3-0 victory against New Radiant with 10-man. The new boys handed the blues their third defeat of the season and this was their second loss in their last 3 games in the league.

Ahmed Rasheed struck twice in the opening half an hour of the game before Mohamed Hassan rounded off the comprehensive victory midway through second half.

In a match where New Radiant were expected to be dominant, Club Green Streets were the better side for the whole first half and they grabbed a shock lead in the 23rd minute when Ahmed Rasheed tapped in at the far post after a receiving a cross from Zhdanov Dmytro down the right flank.

However, it was 2-0 in the 29th minute when a cross by Dmytro found Ahmed Rasheed inside the box and he headed the ball past New Radiant Keeper Ziyazan.

The first half ended in disappointing for the blues, as they were unable create any chances in the opening 45 minutes, as a result they failed to register a single shot on target during the half.

New Radiant started the second half with serious intent, with Ali Fasir and Hamzath Mohamed continued to pressure the backline of Green Streets after restart.

Akram Abdul Ghani almost create an opening two minutes after the break, through a decent free-kick from outside the box but it was cleared by Green Streets defenders from inside the box.

In the 56th minute, Green Streets were down to ten-man when Mohamed Saaif received marching orders from Referee for his second bookable offence.

Despite having a one-man advantage over Green Streets, New Radiant failed capitalize as they were unable to break the opposition backline, even though they were attacking on all fronts.

Green Streets wrapped up the game through a counter-attack in the 67th minute, when Ahmed Hassan goal bound shot from inside the box went deflected off the defender Ahmed Abdulla into the back of the net.

New Radiant were denied a late consolation in the 85th minute when Fasir’s shot from a very tight angle was punched for a corner by Green Streets keeper Jun Kochi.

The result saw Club Green Streets climbed to third place with 17 points, one point behind second place New Radiant, three ahead of TC Sports Club on fourth place.
