Maziya extends lead at the top to six

Maziya had no trouble in extending their lead the top to six points as they easily defeated TC Sports Club in the re-arranged fixture in the Male’ League game played last night. The Green boy’s runaway with an impressive 3-0 victory against TC Sports Club, as the club Captain Asadhulla Abdulla scored a brace while Mohamed Umair managed to be on the score sheet as he netted the opener.

This result helps Maziya ended the first round of Male’ League on top of the point table on perfect 100 percent record as they secured an impressive tally of 21 points from 7 games. Meanwhile, TC Sports Club dropped to fifth place, after this loss. They are leveled on 10 points with Club Eagles, Eagles are ahead on superior goal difference.

TC Sports Club made the better start of the two sides and it was Mahudhee Ibrahim who had the first attempt on goal but his shot from inside the box was stopped by Maziya Keeper Pavel Matiash.

Maziya began to take control, and minutes later, an even better chance appeared, when Andrei Cordos struck a brilliant shot from outside the box through rebounded ball from Umair’s free-kick hits the wall but it was kept out by TC Keeper Kiran.

And it didn’t take too long for Maziya to break the deadlock, as they struck the opening goal in the 22nd minute when Umair tapped in from close range.

Things didn’t get any easier for TC Sports Club, even after the break, as Maziya continued to frustrate them, and on 64 minutes, an individual brilliance from Asadhulla led to his team’s second goal when he sent in a decent strike from outside of the box into the bottom-corner of the net after beating a TC defender.

In the 71st minute, Ali Nafiu had a decent chance to score when his shot from edge of the box was deflected off from a Maziya player but the dangerous effort was stopped by Maziya Keeper Pavel.

Asadhulla missed a decent chance to increase their lead on 74 minutes when his header from inside the box went wide.

TC Sports Club’s Egyptian defender, Eissa Elmaghraby came close with a decent header from inside the box on 80 minutes but his header went inches over the bar which the Maziya keeper Pavel had it covered.

Then at the other end, in the 81st minute, Asadhulla tried his luck from the distance by firing a shot from outside the box but it went wide.

Mahudhee had a glorious chance in the 82nd minute when he headed wide from inside the box after receiving a cross from Cornelius Stewart down the right flank.

Two minutes before regular time, Maziya wrapped up the match when Asadhulla struck his second goal of the match, his ninth for the season as he guided the ball into the bottom corner of the net from inside the box to hand his side a much-deserved 3-0 victory.

Maziya will play Abahani Limited Dhaka on 17th May 2017 in their AFC Cup Group E game at Galolhu National Stadium.
