Blues clinch a difficult win

The Blues clinched yet another difficult win in this year’s Male’ League campaign after an enthralling encounter against newly promoted side Club Green Streets. New Radiant won the game by 2-1.

Ahmed Abdulla put blues ahead with a stunning header through a corner from Ali Fasir in the first half. Fasir was again the creator for the second goal when his inch-perfect pass found Adrian Gallardo who netted his sixth goal of the season. Zhdanov Dmytro struck the only goal for Green Streets as they suffered only their second defeat in six games.

In the opening quarter of the hour, both teams had shots on target but all of those attempts were ruled out offside.

New Radiant threatened first when Ali Fasir sent a shot over the bar inside 18 minutes.

In the 22nd minute, Green Streets registered their first real attempt on goal when Zhdanov Dmytro’s free kick from outside the box hits the post.

Seven minutes before the break, Ahmed Abdulla climbed highest to head in the opening goal for New Radiant through a corner from Ali Fasir. Three minutes later, Adrian Gallardo was unlucky not to increase the lead after his shot went inches over the bar.

In the 57th minute, Gallardo double New Radiant’s lead with a close range finish from inside the box after receiving a fine pass from Fasir.Even after their second goal, the blues didn’t stop their free flowing football they still were looking for more. And six minutes later, Fasir forced a save from Green Streets Keeper Kochi after firing a free kick from outside the box.

Gallardo was unlucky not to have double his tally for the night when he forced another save from Green Streets Keeper Kochi while Akram squandered a decent chance from inside the box when he fired a wayward shot over the bar.

At the other end, New boys did not let their heads drop and they had their reward with 8 minutes remaining when Dmytro took full advantage of a poor clearance from New Radiant as his shot from outside the box went over the head of Keeper Imran into the back of the net.

Two minutes before regular time, Hamzath Mohamed had another chance to increase New Radiant’s lead but his shot went straight to keeper Kochi. Green Streets began to push for a route back into the game, but Ahmed Abdulla and Co were looking solid for Blues at the back, resulting in another hard fought victory for New Radiant.

The blues extend their lead at the top of the table with this win against fourth placed team Club Green Streets, as they now have 15 points from 6 games. Maziya could overtake them if they managed to win their game against United Victory by more than one-goal margin.

Maziya will play United Victory on Saturday at 1600hrs.
