Green Streets clinched surprising win against Eagles

The New Boys Club Green Streets clinched a surprising 2-0 win against Club Eagles in Male’ League game played in this evening.
Club Eagles defender Hussain Shifau put the ball into his own net to give Club Green Streets the lead right after the start of the second half. Sobol Illia scored the second goal of the game with a brilliant free kick from outside the box.

Club Eagles started the game promising as they had the first attempts on goal. First it was Ahmed Rizwan who fired his shot into the sidenetting then few minutes later Club Eagles had another shot on goal this time it was Ahmed Nashid but his shot was punched for a corner kick by Green Streets Keeper Jun Kochi.

Just under 20 minutes Club Green Streets foreign player Sobol Illia delivered a brilliant ball into the Club Eagles penalty area which Ahmed Nashid failed to connect with it.

In the 35th minute, Ahmed Nashid of Club Eagles tried his luck from inside the box as his shot went wide from the left side.

Three minutes later, Club Green Streets were dealt with a blow as their striker Ahmed Rasheed was injured and taken off on the stretcher. Green Streets Coach Sobah brought in Ibrahim Rizuhan for the injured front man just before the end of the first half.

Right after the break, Club Green Streets were gifted a goal by Club Eagles defender Hussain Shifau who put the ball into his own net after failing to clear the cross from the first half substitute Ibrahim Rizuhaan.

A minute after this horrific goal, Club Eagles almost pulled one back through Ahmed Nashid but his shot was blocked by Green Streets defenders inside the box.

Club Eagles were presented with another chance in the 55th minute but Ansar Ibrahim’s shot went straight into the gloves of Green Streets goal keeper Kusal Pereira.

Just around the hour mark, Sobol Illia doubled Club Green Streets lead with a brilliant free kick from outside the box.

In the 77th minute, Club Green Streets keeper Kusal Pereira were forced to make double saves to stop shots from Ibrahim Mubeen.

Two minutes before regular time, Illia had a wonderful chance to extend the lead for Green Streets as he sent in a delicate chip from the distance over the keeper’s head, which hits the cross bar.

Club Green Streets are at the top of the Male’ League table with one-point lead over New Radiant and Maziya who are in the second and third place with 9 points.

In the next game of Male’ League, Club Valencia will play against United Victory on tonight at 2100hrs.
