Narrow victory for Green Street

First half penalty from Club Green Streets playmaker Sobol Illia was enough to defeat struggling United Victory by 1-0 in last night’s Male’ League game.

Club Green Streets moved to fifth place after this win. Meanwhile, United Victory still lies at the bottom of the point table and are yet to win a single point in the league.

Sobol Illia opened the scoring for Club Green Streets from the spot kick after 19 minutes.

United Victory’s first chance fell to Zivkovic in the 28th minute but his effort went wide.

Since neither of the team created clear cut chances during the opening half, most of the shots were from the distance.

Four minutes after the break, Sobol Illia was involved again when he forced a save from United Victory Keeper Ruslan with a decent free kick.

United Victory rarely threatened Jun Kochi at Club Green Streets goal, hence most of the attempted shots were from the distance and went over the bar.

Since United Victory didn’t pose a genuine threat to Club Green Streets defence they held on to their narrow lead till the referee’s final whistle.

Male’ League will resume on 23 April after a little break.
