Maziya too strong for Green Streets

Maziya were too strong for new boys Green Streets as they beat them 3-0 in tonight’s Male’ League game. A brace from Maziya’s Captain Asadhulla and lone strike from Rakic helped them earn this important victory against the new comers.

In the first half, both teams created goal scoring opportunities but the opening 45 minutes ended goalless. During the opening minutes, Green Streets were gifted a wonderful chance when a defensive mistake from Maziya’s defender Qasim Samaam led the ball to Ahmed Rasheed but his effort was saved by Maziya’s Keeper Pavel Matiash.

In the 14th minute Maziya’s Alexandar Rakic penetrated through Green Streets defence and shot from inside the box straight into the gloves of Green Streets Keeper Jun Kochi.

Maziya had few more chances to break the deadlock just before the end of the half but they were not successful on both occasions. Rakic to setup Umair but his effort is saved by the keeper. And in the 45th minute they had another chance, but Umair’s shot inside the box goes wide of the goal.

Maziya opened the scoring in the 50th minute when referee awarded them a penalty for a foul on Umair inside the penalty. Maziya’s captain Asadhulla calmly slotted in the spot kick give them the lead.

Rakic doubled Maziya’s lead in the 68th minute when he fired in a superbly taken free kick which hits the post and off the Keeper into the back of the net.

In the 74th minute maziya had another opportunity to score when Asadhulla’s shot was blocked by the Keeper which fell to the path of Rakic but his shot hits woodwork.

Maziya’s third goal was scored in the 78th minute by Asadhulla when his shot from inside the box hits the post and cross the line.

Maziya have won two games and are levelled on 6 points with New Radiant at the top of the table. But Maziya comes to the second position with goal difference.
